Domaine de l'Arlot Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Clos des Forêts is a premier cru monopole in the southern half of Nuits-Saint-Georges.

Clos des Forêts Saint-Georges is a walled seven-hectare vineyard owned outright by Domaine de l'Arlot at Prémeaux-Prissey, at the southern end of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. The site runs from the slope down towards the road, with thinner, stonier soils above and deeper clay below, and the domaine vinifies the sections separately before blending. L'Arlot has long been associated with a lighter hand in a village better known for structure: a good proportion of whole bunches in the fermentation, gentle extraction and restrained new oak, which gives Nuits-Saint-Georges of perfume and lift rather than sheer power. The estate has farmed organically and biodynamically for many years.

Approachable earlier than most Nuits-Saint-Georges but worth a decade; serve with duck, mushroom dishes or a soft washed-rind cheese at 16-18°C.
