Domaine de l'Arlot Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Clos des Forêts is a walled monopole of just over seven hectares, owned outright by the domaine.

The Clos des Forêts Saint-Georges lies at Prémeaux-Prissey, at the southern end of Nuits-Saint-Georges, and came to the property when the merchant Jules Belin bought it in 1891; AXA Millésimes has owned the estate since 1987. The clos climbs the slope, so its soils shift from deeper clay at the base to thin stony limestone above, and each section is picked and fermented separately before assembly. Of the two monopoles this is the sterner, where the Clos de l'Arlot is the more delicate. Géraldine Godot has directed the winemaking since 2014, and in 2015 she judged the stems ripe enough to ferment this cuvée with about half whole bunches, on indigenous yeasts, with light handling of the cap before barrel ageing. The vines average around fifty years and the estate has farmed organically since 2000 and biodynamically since 2003.

Built for the cellar rather than for early drinking, though an hour in a decanter helps if opened young. Serve at 16-18°C with roast beef, guinea fowl or a well-aged hard cheese.
