Domaine de l'Arlot Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Clos des Forêts is a monopole premier cru of just over seven hectares, owned outright by the domaine.

The Clos des Forêts Saint-Georges lies at Prémeaux-Prissey, at the southern limit of Nuits-Saint-Georges, a walled clos running up the slope so that its soils shift from deeper clay at the base to thin, stony limestone at the top. Domaine de l'Arlot picks and ferments the sections separately and assembles them afterwards, which is how the wine gains both flesh and frame. Of the estate's two monopoles this is the sterner and more tannic, where the Clos de l'Arlot is the more delicate. Winemaking follows the house pattern: indigenous yeasts, a good proportion of whole bunches, gentle infusion-style extraction and maturation in barrel with a modest share of new oak. It is built for the cellar rather than for early drinking.

Best given several years in bottle, though an hour in a decanter helps if opened young. Serve at 16–18°C with roast beef, guinea fowl or a well-aged hard cheese.
