Domaine de l'Arlot Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Forêts Saint Georges in half-bottle comes from the larger of the estate's two walled monopoles.

At 7.2 hectares, Clos des Forêts Saint Georges is the biggest single parcel in the Arlot stable and the source of its most profound red. Its position close to Les Saint-Georges, reflected in the name, marks it as one of the appellation's better sites. The clos runs the entire width of the slope, from the forest down to the RN74, and holds three distinct terroirs that are picked and vinified separately: white oolitic limestone with very little topsoil at the top, a fracture mid-slope where pink Prémeaux limestone takes over, then younger Ladoix limestone and heavier clay at the base. Vines once used for the discontinued Petits Plets cuvée, now over 30 years old, have been folded back into this bottling. Under Géraldine Godot the wine has gained precision without losing the structure that sets it apart from Clos de l'Arlot. Half-bottles mature faster than 750ml.

Drinking from four or five years in this format. Serve at 16-18°C with roast beef, duck confit or aged cheese.
