Domaine de l'Arlot Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Mont des Oiseaux is a premier cru Nuits-Saint-Georges assembled from the domaine's younger vines and held back in the estate's own cellar before release.

Nuits-Saint-Georges sits at the southern end of the Côte de Nuits, and the commune of Prémeaux-Prissey at its far end tends to give the more perfumed, finer-boned reading of the appellation. Domaine de l'Arlot is based there, in a walled estate built around two monopoles, the Clos de l'Arlot and the Clos des Forêts Saint-Georges. Mont des Oiseaux is the domaine's assemblage of premier cru fruit, drawn largely from younger vines within those walls, on thin limestone and marl soils. The house approach leans on fermentation with a good share of whole bunches, indigenous yeasts and gentle infusion-style extraction rather than hard working of the cap, with maturation in barrel and only a measured proportion of new oak. The intention is lifted red fruit and fine-grained tannin instead of weight for its own sake.

Open and drinking well, with enough structure to hold for several more years. Serve at 16–18°C with roast duck, mushroom risotto or a soft washed-rind cheese.
