Domaine de l'Arlot Romanée-St-Vivant is a grand cru from one of the great vineyards of the Vosne-Romanée slope.

Romanée-Saint-Vivant is the grand cru lying lowest on the Vosne-Romanée hillside, directly below Richebourg and La Romanée-Conti, on deeper clay-rich soils over limestone. Its reputation rests on perfume and silk rather than power, and on a habit of taking its time to unfold. Domaine de l'Arlot, whose cellars are further south at Prémeaux-Prissey, farms a small parcel here and works it in the manner it applies across the estate: careful sorting, a substantial share of whole bunches, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, extraction by gentle infusion and maturation in barrel with a restrained amount of new wood. The aim throughout is transparency to the site, which in a vineyard of this class means finely grained tannin, floral lift and a long, quiet finish.

This rewards patience and will continue to develop over a long period in a cool cellar. Serve at 16–18°C with roast game bird, truffled potatoes or aged Comté.
