Domaine Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru brings together three lieux-dits close to Clos de Bèze, with an average vine age of 50 years.

Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest of the Côte de Nuits communes and holds nine grands crus, so its premier crus vary widely depending on where they sit. This cuvée is assembled from Cherbaudes, Petite Chapelle and Bel Air, all lying near Clos de Bèze on the well-drained limestone slope, and in this release the blend also includes fruit from Champonnets, a parcel affected by hail. Domaine Denis Mortet, now run by Arnaud Mortet from the family cellar in the village, works its parcels intensively in the vineyard and keeps new oak in check. Because of the prime location of these vines, the estate considers this the most charming of its Gevrey premier crus, an assemblage that gives an accessible reading of the village while retaining the structure of the sites behind it.

Drinking from four or five years and holding for fifteen. Serve at 16-18°C with roast duck, braised beef or mushrooms on toast.
