Domaine des Croix Grand Cru Corton Les Grèves 2023

Domaine des Croix Grand Cru Corton Les Grèves is an organically farmed grand cru from a mid-slope parcel of vines planted in 1960.

There are two Grèves on the Côte de Beaune, one a premier cru in Beaune and this one a climat of the Corton grand cru, and David Croix makes both. The grand cru parcel lies mid-slope on the Corton hill with an ideal south-easterly aspect, on reddish clay scattered with the Jurassic limestone known as Ladoix, after the village below, along with some flint. It is widely held to be one of the finest red terroirs on the hill. Domaine des Croix bought its 0.55-hectare holding in 2009 and has farmed it organically since. The 2023 was fermented with 30% whole bunches, which adds lift and a savoury edge against the deep, iron-flecked fruit of the site. The wine is compact and high in dry extract.

Rewarding after five years and capable of ten to twenty; serve with roast game, beef or aged hard cheese at 16-18°C.
