Domaine Desvignes Morgon Montpelain 2022

Domaine Louis-Claude Desvignes Morgon Montpelain comes from granite and sand rather than the volcanic Côte du Py.

Montpelain lies on the lighter soils of Morgon, which give a more perfumed and earlier-drinking wine than the dense schist of the Py. Keeping the two separate is how the domaine shows that a single cru contains several quite different wines. Gamay is fermented whole-bunch in the Beaujolais manner.

Serve slightly cool at 15 degrees with charcuterie, roast chicken or soft cheese. Drink over the next eight years.
