Domaine Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Petite Chapelle" Vieilles Vignes 2022

Domaine Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Petite Chapelle" Vieilles Vignes comes from a premier cru that sits directly below one of the village's grands crus.

Petite Chapelle lies on the lower slope at the southern end of Gevrey-Chambertin, below Chapelle-Chambertin, from which it takes its name and much of its geology. The grand cru boundary runs along the road, and the ground below it is a little deeper, though the limestone is the same. Bernard Dugat-Py and his son Loïc work from cellars in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, part of which occupy a medieval tithe building. The domaine is small, farmed organically and known for severe crop levels. The parcel is planted to old vines, which crop lightly of their own accord. The fruit is hand picked and sorted, fermented in small lots and matured in oak, with new barrels used according to the vintage.

Decant and serve at about 16 degrees with game, roast lamb or beef; it will hold well for many years.
