Domaine Dugat-Py Meursault 1er Cru Sous Blagny 2022

Domaine Dugat-Py Meursault 1er Cru Sous Blagny is a white Burgundy from high on the slope where Meursault meets Puligny-Montrachet.

Sous Blagny sits below the hamlet of Blagny, a scatter of houses rather than a village, on the upper part of the hillside at the boundary between the two communes. The Blagny appellation itself covers only red wine, so whites grown in these vineyards are sold as Meursault or Puligny-Montrachet premier cru, and this is one of them. The altitude and the thin, stony soils make it one of the cooler and later-ripening corners of the Côte de Beaune. Dugat-Py, based in Gevrey-Chambertin and led by Bernard and his son Loïc, farms organically, crops very low and presses whole bunches for barrel fermentation. The quantities made here are very small indeed.

Serve at about 12 degrees with shellfish, roast fish or poultry; a few years of bottle age will fill it out.
