Domaine Faiveley Chambertin Clos De Bèze Grand Cru 2023

Domaine Faiveley Chambertin Clos De Bèze Grand Cru is a red Burgundy from the historic heart of Gevrey-Chambertin.

The climat takes its name from the abbey of Bèze, which was granted the land in the seventh century, and it lies on the mid slope where the soil is shallow and the limestone close beneath. Its fifteen hectares are divided among a small group of owners, and Faiveley is among the largest of them. The house was founded in 1825 at Nuits-Saint-Georges and is now in its seventh generation, farming a broader spread of premier and grand cru land than almost anyone else in the Côte d'Or. Since 2005 the cellar has favoured gentler extraction, careful sorting and a more restrained use of new oak than in the past.

Decant and serve at around 16 degrees with venison, beef or a mature cheese; it asks for ten years and repays a great deal more.
