Description
Domaine Faiveley Chambertin Clos de Bèze "Les Ouvrées Rodin" Grand Cru is a single parcel bottling from within one of the oldest and greatest vineyards in Burgundy.
An ouvrée is the old Burgundian measure of vineyard land, a little over four ares, said to be the area a man could work in a day, and Les Ouvrées Rodin is a small block within Faiveley's holding in Clos de Bèze that the house bottles on its own. Clos de Bèze was established by the abbey of Bèze in the seventh century and sits on the shallow limestone soils of the Gevrey mid slope, alongside Chambertin. Faiveley has been at Nuits-Saint-Georges since 1825; this cuvée is made in very small quantity, vinified in tiny lots and matured in French oak barrel.
Decant and serve at around 16 degrees with game or beef; it is built for a long cellar and should be left for a decade at least.
