Description
Domaine Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges is a village Pinot Noir from the town at the southern end of the Côte de Nuits where the Faiveley house has stood since 1825.
Nuits-Saint-Georges gave its name to the whole of the Côte de Nuits and took the second half of its own from the vineyard of Les Saint-Georges in 1892. The commune has no Grand Cru but more than forty Premiers Crus, spread between the lighter northern sector towards Vosne-Romanée and the firmer southern stretch around Prémeaux. Faiveley is one of the oldest houses in the town, founded in 1825 and now in its seventh generation; since Erwan Faiveley took charge in 2005 the winemaking has moved towards gentler extraction and a lighter hand with new oak. Village parcels are sorted, fermented traditionally and matured in French oak barrels.
Serve at about 16 degrees with roast beef, game birds or a firm washed-rind cheese. It will keep comfortably for five to eight years.
