Description
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Aux Combottes comes from 0.18 hectares that yield about two barrels in a good year.
Aux Combottes is a small Premier Cru in the heart of Chambolle-Musigny, just east of the village between Les Chatelots and Aux Beaux Bruns, and Roumier and Barthod are its principal owners. Like Les Chatelots it sits on the silt-rich alluvial fan spread by the Combe, the valley that cuts through the centre of the commune, and that deeper, softer ground makes the wine more approachable in youth than the sterner crus north of the village on thin soil over rock. Barthod farms 0.18 hectares, which in most years amounts to two barrels. The 2023 is among the finest expressions the domaine has drawn from the site, showing the structure characteristic of the vintage alongside the depth of fruit, and it is made as the rest of the cellar is, with restrained extraction and moderate new oak.
Drinks well from two or three years and will keep for a dozen. Serve at 16-18°C with roast chicken, mushroom dishes or a mild soft cheese.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
