Description
Domaine Goisot Bourgogne Côtes d'Auxerre Le Court Vit Rouge is a biodynamic single-vineyard Pinot Noir from a Kimmeridgian slope north of Saint-Bris.
Bourgogne Côtes d'Auxerre is the regional appellation covering the slopes around Auxerre in the Yonne, cool country that gives Pinot Noir a lighter frame and a bright, mineral cut. Domaine Goisot farms biodynamically at Saint-Bris-le-Vineux. Le Court Vit has been in the family for centuries, but the vines were pulled out some sixty years ago and the land passed to an uncle. Guilhem Goisot bought it back around fifteen years ago and replanted it mostly to Chardonnay with 30 per cent Pinot Noir, as would have been the case in earlier times. The vineyard is rocky and faces southwest on a Kimmeridgian slope, overlain with white clay where the Chardonnay sits and brown clay under the Pinot. With only 50 centimetres of topsoil and a spring running beneath the vines, water is easier to reach, and Goisot credits that for the generosity of this wine.
Drink now or hold for five years. Serve at 16°C with roast pork, duck rillettes or a lentil and bacon salad.
