Domaine Henri Germain Bourgogne Côte d'Or Rouge 2022

This Bourgogne Côte d'Or Rouge comes from two micro-parcels in Meursault: Au Jardin, the clos behind the cellar, and Moulin à Judas beneath Les Chevalières.

The Bourgogne Côte d'Or appellation, introduced in 2017, sets wines grown on the Côte d'Or apart from regional Bourgogne made elsewhere in the region. Domaine Henri Germain is a Meursault house best known for white wine, but the reds have improved markedly, and this cuvée comes from tiny holdings within the village: Au Jardin, a garden-like clos directly behind the cellar, and the evocatively named Moulin à Judas, below Les Chevalières. Quantities are very small and the wine is not offered every year. Winemaking mirrors the rest of the red range, with careful sorting, gentle extraction and little new oak, giving a chiselled Bourgogne with red and dark fruit and a peppery, spiced edge rather than weight.

Ready on release and best over the next five years. Serve lightly cool at 15-16°C with charcuterie, roast chicken or grilled mushrooms.
