Description

Domaine Henri Germain Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots comes from a quarter-hectare in Le Poruzot Dessus inherited from the grower's father-in-law, François Jobard.

Les Poruzots lies at the northern end of the Meursault premier cru band, at the point where the slope begins to turn towards the east, and it tends to give earthier, broader-shouldered wines than the crus further south. Germain's parcel covers 0.25 hectares of vines around 35 years old in the upper part of Le Poruzot Dessus, directly under the Narvaux lieu-dit. It came to the domaine through the Jobard family: Jean-François Germain is a brother-in-law and next-door neighbour of Antoine Jobard here, so the two versions can be compared side by side, both shipped to Australia by Bibendum. The wine is whole-bunch pressed, fermented with indigenous yeast and raised in barrel with a restrained proportion of new wood. In style it recalls the domaine's Limozin, with more depth and more layers.

Best given three to five years and good for a decade or more. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, scallops or a mushroom tart.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
