Description

Domaine Henri Germain Meursault Limozin is a village wine from vines planted in 1937, bordering three of the commune's leading premiers crus.

Limozin sits directly beneath the premier cru line on the slope above the village, sharing boundaries with Les Charmes, Les Genevrières and Les Poruzots. The position gives it more drive and mineral definition than most village Meursault, and the ancient vines, planted in 1937, add concentration and depth. Henri Germain, now with son Jean-François, is a small domaine whose whites are barrel-fermented and raised on lees with a restrained proportion of new oak, avoiding the heavier, more worked style once common in the village. The wine is denser than the estate's Chevalières bottling but keeps a racy, mineral spine, and it is regularly cited as one of the better examples of village Meursault to be found.

Give it three to ten years; it suits roast chicken, scallops or a hard mountain cheese. Serve at 10-12°C.
