Domaine Hubert Lamy Santenay Clos des Hâtes Rouge 2021

Domaine Hubert Lamy Santenay Clos des Hâtes Rouge comes from the original walled section of a village climat once owned by the man who also owned Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.

Les Hâtes is surrounded by premier cru land and is generally counted among the best village terroirs in Santenay. Lamy's plot covers 0.67 hectares in the heart of the climat, inside the original walled vineyard. Its nineteenth-century owner was Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet, who at that time also owned Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The bulk of the vines are relatively young, mass-selected in 1999 from the vineyards of Marquis d'Angerville and Henri Boillot and grafted onto rootstock that gives very small berries and bunches; a parcel of older vines completes the holding. The wine was vinified with 50 per cent whole bunches and no sulphur was added until bottling, in line with the domaine's practice across its reds.

Drinking well from two years and good for eight. Serve at 16-18°C with roast pork, duck breast or a mushroom and barley stew.
