Description
Domaine Hubert & Laurent Lignier Monthélie is a red Burgundy from the small Côte de Beaune village of Monthélie, made by an estate whose home lies further north in Morey-Saint-Denis.
Domaine Hubert & Laurent Lignier traces its roots to 1885, when Jacques Lignier began replanting phylloxera-ravaged vineyards in the Côte de Nuits. Hubert Lignier took over the estate in 1959 and pioneered estate-bottling in 1973, before his son Laurent joined in 2004, lending the domaine its present name. Farmed without synthetic chemicals since the 1990s and certified organic since 2019, the eleven-hectare estate favours old vines propagated by massal selection and a patient, low-intervention style in the cellar, with holdings spanning appellations in both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune.
An approachable, food-friendly red Burgundy, it suits everyday dining as readily as more considered occasions.
