Description
Domaine Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux is a sweet Chenin Blanc from Huet's finest monopole, released from the domaine's own cellars.
Clos du Bourg is perched on the Première Côte just above the town of Vouvray and is generally regarded as the greatest of Huet's three single vineyards, farmed by the domaine since 1953 and purchased in 1963. Many would argue it is the finest vineyard in the region, capable of some of the most powerful and long-lived white wines in Europe. There is only a metre of topsoil over solid limestone, so the vines tap almost immediately into the mineral resources underfoot. The warmth of the site combined with the mineral complexion of the soils gives rich, exceptionally long-lived wines that combine charged minerality with generous texture and concentration. In the moelleux style the grapes are picked at higher ripeness and the wine retains noticeable residual sugar. This is a museum release shipped directly from Huet's cellars in December 2022.
Fully mature and capable of decades more. Serve at 8–10°C with foie gras, blue cheese or a stone-fruit tart.
