Domaine la Réméjeanne Côtes du Rhône Les Chèvrefeuilles Blanc is a certified organic old-vine Clairette blend named after the honeysuckle of the southern Rhône.

White Côtes du Rhône is a small part of the appellation but a growing one, and the Klein family at Réméjeanne, on the Gard side of the river, have built theirs on old-vine Clairette. Chèvrefeuilles is French for honeysuckle, the scent that fills the southern Rhône in spring. The domaine is certified organic and long respected for its supple, aromatic reds, and under Olivier Klein the whites have caught up. Clairette now makes up half the blend, with 25 per cent Roussanne and 25 per cent Grenache Blanc completing it. All the fruit comes from the estate's cooler, east-facing sites, where limestone helps hold acidity. The bunches were whole-pressed and fermented with natural yeasts, then the wine rested on fine lees in concrete for eight months before bottling.

Drink now and over the next three years. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled fish, chicken with herbs or a bowl of aioli and vegetables.
