Domaine la Réméjeanne Côtes du Rhône Un Air de Réméjeanne is a certified organic Grenache and Syrah blend from the high country around Sabran.

Sabran lies in the Gard, on the right bank of the Rhône north-west of Avignon, where the vineyards sit higher and cooler than much of the southern Rhône. Domaine la Réméjeanne, now run by Olivier Klein, farms sandy limestone soils around the hamlet and has built a long-standing reputation for value in the Côtes du Rhône appellation. This cuvée is 70 per cent Grenache and 30 per cent Syrah. Everything is picked by hand and sorted, then mostly destemmed before a five-day cold soak. The fermentation runs on natural yeasts and the wine matures for seven to eight months in concrete tanks, so there is no oak influence. It is unfined and only lightly filtered before bottling. Altitude is what keeps it fragrant and agile rather than heavy.

Drink now and over the next three to five years. Serve at 16-18°C with grilled lamb, ratatouille or a plate of charcuterie.
