Domaine la Réméjeanne Côtes du Rhône Un Air de Réméjeanne is a certified organic, Grenache-led red from high vineyards around Sabran.

The Klein family farm on the Gard side of the southern Rhône, around the wooded hamlet of Sabran, where the vineyards sit at about 250 metres on loess over limestone and sandstone. That altitude, and the south- and east-facing slopes, keep the fruit fresher than the valley floor allows. This is Olivier Klein's entry-level Côtes du Rhône, a blend of 70 per cent Grenache and 30 per cent Syrah, and he is explicit that he is chasing a vin de soif: juicy, floating fruit and floral perfume rather than extract. The wine spent six to eight days on skins, partly with whole bunches for lift and buoyancy, then six months in concrete. The result is pale ruby, crisp and fine, with supple tannins and a thread of minerality through the finish.

Made for early drinking over the next two or three years. Serve at 15-16°C, lightly chilled if you like, with charcuterie, pizza or grilled lamb skewers.
