Domaine Lamy-Pillot Beaune Blanches Fleurs Rouge is a red Burgundy from a named parcel within the vineyards that ring the old wine capital of the Cote d'Or.

Beaune gives its name to the whole Cote de Beaune and to the wine trade that grew up inside its walls. Its vineyards form a broad arc around the town on limestone scree and marl, and although the appellation is dominated by premier cru land, there is village vineyard too, of which Blanches Fleurs is one named lieu-dit. The grape is Pinot Noir, and the making follows the classic Cote d'Or pattern of fermentation in open vats followed by maturation in oak barrels, with new wood used sparingly at this level. The domaine is based in Chassagne-Montrachet, a few kilometres to the south, and takes its name from the union of two families long established there.

Serve at around 16C with roast chicken, charcuterie, coq au vin or soft washed-rind cheese; it drinks well young and holds for several years.
