Domaine Vincent Dancer Bourgogne Rouge 2023

This Bourgogne Rouge is the first release from a new vineyard in the Pommard lieu-dit La Taupe, next door to the domaine's Pommard Perrières.

Regional Bourgogne is often blended across several sources, so a single-site bottling from within a village commune is unusual and generally means fruit of better standing than the label suggests. La Taupe sits in Pommard, adjacent to the Dancers' Les Perrières parcel at the Beaune end of the commune, on clay over limestone. The vines are young, having only recently come into production. Winemaking follows the domaine's established approach: complete destemming, very gentle extraction and restrained élevage without noticeable new oak, aimed at freshness and clarity of fruit. Vincent and Théo Dancer work with low yields across the estate, and even at this level the wine carries the juicy, transparent character that runs through the range.

Ready on release and best over the next four or five years. Serve lightly cool at 15-16°C with charcuterie, grilled salmon or a mushroom risotto.
