Frapin Cigar Blend Grande Champagne is a cognac assembled specifically to be drunk alongside a cigar.

Grande Champagne is the first cru of Cognac, soft Campanian chalk whose eaux-de-vie mature slowly and live longest of all the region's crus. Frapin is unusual in drawing solely on vineyard it owns, some 240 hectares of Ugni Blanc around the Château de Fontpinot at Segonzac, where the family has farmed since 1270 and where everything from growing to bottling takes place. The base wine is distilled on its lees in small copper pot stills, and the eaux-de-vie age in Limousin oak in the estate's own humid cellars. For the Cigar Blend the house selects older eaux-de-vie with the weight and length to hold their own against tobacco smoke rather than be flattened by it, and bottles the result at 40%. Everything in the blend comes from the estate's own Grande Champagne parcels.

Built for the smoking room, it is generous and long, and works equally well with dark chocolate or an aged cheese; serve at room temperature.
