Giovanni Rosso Barbera d'Alba comes from vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba, on land shared with the estate's Barolo.

Barbera is Piedmont's everyday red, high in acidity and low in tannin, and planting it on hillsides good enough for Nebbiolo gives it a depth the variety rarely shows. Serralunga's calcareous marl holds water through dry summers. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged briefly in oak, keeping its freshness.

Serve at 16 degrees with rich pasta, veal or roast pork. Drink over the next six years.
