Gosset Grand Rosé 375ml NV

Gosset Grand Rose is the house rose Champagne, offered here in a half bottle.

Gosset was founded at Ay in 1584 and is the oldest wine house in Champagne, now based in Epernay. Its defining choice is to block malolactic fermentation, keeping malic acidity intact so the wines stay taut and reward long cellaring. Grand Rose is built on a base of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, coloured by the addition of a small proportion of still red wine from Pinot Noir grown in the Montagne de Reims, the method used by most Champagne houses for rose. The wine is aged on lees in the chalk cellars well past the legal minimum and finished with a moderate dosage. Blocking malolactic fermentation keeps the acidity high, which suits a rose intended for the table rather than a soft, fruit forward apertif style. The half bottle format matures more quickly than a standard bottle.

Dry and red fruited with a firm finish, it suits salmon, duck, charcuterie and summer berries; serve at around 9 degrees.
