Grappa di Bolgheri Sassicaia 500mL NV

Grappa di Bolgheri Sassicaia is an Italian grape spirit distilled from the pomace of one of the country's most famous wines.

Grappa is made not from wine but from vinaccia, the skins, pips and stems left behind after pressing, which are distilled and traditionally taken at the end of a meal; the name is legally protected and the spirit must be produced in Italy from Italian pomace. This bottling is drawn from the pomace of Sassicaia, the Cabernet based wine made at Tenuta San Guido on the Tuscan coast at Bolgheri, the wine that created the Super Tuscan category in the 1970s and eventually earned Bolgheri its own denomination. As with all serious grappa, distillation follows soon after harvest while the pomace is still fresh, rather than after long storage.

Serve in a small glass at cool room temperature after dinner, or alongside espresso in the Italian fashion.
