Description
Gregoire Hoppenot Fleurie Clos De l'Amandier is a three-quarter-hectare monopole at the south-eastern end of the Poncié climat.
Fleurie’s best sites sit high on the granite slopes above the village, and Poncié is among the most highly regarded of them. Le Clos De l’Amandier is Hoppenot’s own monopole within it: three-quarters of a hectare of 25-year-old vines on a 30 per cent gradient, facing south to south-west and rising to almost 400 metres. The soils are a mixture of granitic sand and shallow, stony clay over hard granite bedrock. Unusually for this grower, half the vines are cordon-trained rather than the gobelet he normally uses. Fermentation runs 15 days with whole bunches and ambient yeasts in 60-hectolitre concrete vats, after which the wine rests eight months in a mix of large oak foudre and mature Burgundian barrels that have already seen five vintages, so oak flavour plays no part.
Drinking well now and over the next five to six years. Serve at 16-18°C with roast pork, duck or a plate of charcuterie.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
