Description
HEAD The Brunette is a single-vineyard Shiraz from a low-yielding site on dark ironstone at Moppa.
The Brunette is the counterpart to The Blonde, the pair named for the Côte Brune and Côte Blonde of Côte Rôtie. Where Stonewell gives pale sand over limestone, Moppa's dark ironstone and red-brown clay produce a deeper, firmer wine from the same variety and the same hand. Alex Head founded the label in 2006 and works single sites across the Barossa and Eden Valleys. Maturation is in older French oak, with the wine bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Serve at 17 degrees with roast beef, lamb shoulder or hard cheese. It rewards twelve years.
