Henschke The Nurturer Carignan Blend 2025

Henschke The Nurturer is a Carignan-based Barossa red, made from a variety rarely bottled in Australia.

Carignan is a southern French and Catalan grape that holds acidity and colour in heat, and it is planted here in small quantity alongside the Mediterranean varieties the family has been trialling as the Barossa warms. The name is a tribute to Prue Henschke, whose viticultural work on composting, under-vine mulching and rootstock trials reshaped the estate's vineyards from the 1980s. It is fermented in small open vessels and matured in older oak.

Serve slightly cool at 15 degrees with grilled meats, tomato-based dishes or a charcuterie board. Drink over the next six years.
