Description
Jo Landron Muscadet Sèvre et Maine La Louvetrie is the only wine in the estate's range blended from several different sites.
Muscadet Sèvre et Maine lies south-east of Nantes, close enough to the Atlantic that the sea shapes both the climate and the character of the wines. La Louvetrie draws on soils rich in amphibolite, sand, clay and gneiss, and it takes in younger-vine fruit from Landron's top vineyards alongside its own parcels. The vines run from 15 to 30 years old and are cropped at 50 hl/ha, a low figure for the appellation and a large part of the reason the wine has more substance than most Muscadet at the price. It matures for eight to 12 months, in the traditional sur lie manner, before being bottled with a low dose of sulphur. The lees contact gives a creamy undertow beneath the citrus and saline drive.
Ready now and good for three years. Serve at 10-12°C with oysters, moules marinière or grilled sardines.
