Jo Landron Muscadet Sèvre et Maine La Louvetrie 2021

Jo Landron Muscadet Sèvre et Maine La Louvetrie is the estate’s only multi-site cuvée, blended from amphibolite, gneiss, sand and clay soils south-east of Nantes.

Muscadet Sèvre et Maine is the heart of the Nantais, an Atlantic vineyard where Melon de Bourgogne ripens slowly and keeps its acidity. Domaine Landron farms biodynamically, and La Louvetrie is the one wine in the range built from several sites rather than a single terroir, taking in amphibolite, gneiss, sand and clay, and including younger-vine fruit from the estate’s better parcels. The vines run from 15 to 30 years old and are cropped at 50 hl/ha, low by the standards of the appellation. The wine matures on its lees for eight to 12 months before bottling with a low dose of sulphur, which gives it the creaminess that sits under the saline, citrus-driven attack. It is a serious Muscadet sold at an unserious price.

Drink now and across the next three years. Serve at 10-12°C with oysters, moules marinière or sashimi.
