Description
Jo Landron Muscadet Sèvre et Maine La Louvetrie is the estate's only cuvée blended from several sites, including young-vine fruit from its top vineyards.
Muscadet Sèvre et Maine covers the vineyards south-east of Nantes, where Melon de Bourgogne is grown on a patchwork of metamorphic and igneous rocks close enough to the Atlantic for the sea to show in the wines. Domaine Landron farms biodynamically, and La Louvetrie draws on soils rich in amphibolite, sand, clay and gneiss. It remains the only wine in the range assembled from different sites, and it includes younger-vine fruit from Landron's best vineyards. The vines are 15 to 30 years old and cropped low for the region, at 50 hectolitres per hectare. The wine matured for eight to twelve months before bottling with only a small dose of sulphur. The result is stony and creamy at once, with the salinity and Atlantic bite that define good Muscadet.
Drink within three or four years, with oysters, grilled sardines or a plate of prawns. Serve at 10 degrees.
