Joh Jos Prüm Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Spätlese comes from the cluster of steep slate sites just above the town of Bernkastel.

Badstube is the collective name for a group of vineyards on the Bernkastel side of the river, neighbours to the celebrated Doctor, all on steep weathered slate. The Joh. Jos. Prüm holding there is a small part of a range built mainly on Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich and Zeltinger Sonnenuhr. Winemaking does not change from site to site: gentle pressing, slow and cool fermentation, natural residual sugar left in the wine, low finished alcohol and bottling only when the wine is ready. At Spätlese level the wines are still light in body while flavour intensity and depth of character increase markedly over the Kabinett — more flesh, more power and enough weight for richer dishes, without overt sweetness. Katharina Prüm rates Spätlese among the estate's best food wines.

Good young and steady in the cellar for twenty years. Serve at 8–10°C with roast pork, chicken schnitzel or a plate of charcuterie.
