Joh Jos Prüm Graacher Domprobst Riesling Auslese 2024

Joh Jos Prüm Graacher Domprobst Riesling Auslese is the estate's first release from Domprobst, a site it acquired only a few years ago.

Domprobst sits above the village of Graach, flanked on both sides by Graacher Himmelreich, and is steep and high, facing southwest to south-southwest. Joh. Jos. Prüm came by about 0.45 hectares there through the purchase of the small Dr F. Weins-Prüm estate — a reintegration rather than an expansion, since Dr Weins was the husband of Anne Marie Prüm, sister of Joh. Jos. Prüm, and most of the plots that came with the deal lay in Wehlener Sonnenuhr and Graacher Himmelreich. As far as anyone can recall, this is the first new vineyard release from the estate in a very long time. The soil holds more clay than the Himmelreich, and the wine is correspondingly richer, denser and more layered. Only Auslese has been made from the parcel so far, and the same is planned for the following harvest.

Tempting young and capable of decades in the cellar. Serve at 8–10°C with terrine, roast game bird or a mild washed-rind cheese.
