Joh Jos Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spätlese in magnum is a Mosel Spätlese from the slate slope above Graach.

Graacher Himmelreich is a wide, steep sweep of grey-blue slate between Graach and Wehlen, one of the three sites on which the reputation of Joh. Jos. Prüm rests. Graach gives the racier, more citrussy and herbal side of the estate's range. At Spätlese level the wines stay light in body, but flavour intensity and depth of character step up markedly from the Kabinett; the Prüms describe this style as charming and classic at once, with brightness and balance but considerably more depth of fruit, expressed as flesh and power rather than as overt sweetness. That makes it, in Katharina Prüm's view, one of the estate's great food-wine categories. Fermentation is long and cool, natural sugar remains, alcohol stays low, and the magnum simply slows the wine's development.

Ready young and reliable for two decades or more in the cellar. Serve at 8–10°C with roast chicken, ham hock or a mildly spiced curry.
