Joh Jos Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese is a half-bottle of Mosel Auslese from the estate's home vineyard at Wehlen.

Joh. Jos. Prüm sits at the foot of the Sonnenuhr, a steep slate slope named for the sundial built into it in the 1840s, and the family has shaped the site's reputation since 1911. Auslese here is later-picked fruit from riper bunches with pretty much no botrytis, which keeps the style pure and finely drawn rather than heavy while adding a clear measure of depth, flesh and persistence over the Spätlese. Katharina Prüm resists calling these sweet wines: the intensity comes from concentration and vineyard expression, held in place by the freshness that runs through the estate's range. Wehlen gives the rounder and deeper reading of the house style. Long, cool fermentation leaves substantial natural sugar and low alcohol, and the half-bottle makes an easier proposition at the table.

Delicious young and capable of a very long life. Serve at 8–10°C with roast chicken, sausage and charcuterie, or a light fruit-based dessert.
