Joh Jos Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett is a lightly sweet Mosel Riesling from the estate's home slope, offered here in magnum.

Wehlener Sonnenuhr is the steep, south-facing slate slope above Wehlen, named for the sundial set into the rock in the 1840s so that pickers could tell the time. Joh. Jos. Prüm, based in the village below, is the estate most closely identified with the site, and its house style is unmistakable: slow, cool, spontaneous fermentations that stop with substantial natural sugar still in the wine, very low alcohol, and a reductive edge on release that resolves with a few years in bottle. Kabinett is the lightest of the Prädikat levels and the one that shows the slate most directly. Across the estate the power builds from Bernkastel to Graach to Wehlen, and this set of Kabinetts is unusually approachable young. Most will be drunk early, but they improve for five to ten years and twenty will not weary them; the magnum slows that clock again.

Serve at 10-12°C. It handles sashimi, lighter Asian dishes and tuna tartare, suits any seafood or white meat, and makes a fine aperitif.
