Description
Kracher K Cuvée is a dry white blend of Chardonnay, Scheurebe and Welschriesling from Illmitz in Burgenland.
The three grapes in this blend are the everyday workhorses of the Seewinkel, and all three are more usually seen at Kracher in botrytised form. Made dry they play distinct roles: Chardonnay brings body and structure, Scheurebe contributes aromatic lift and a grapefruit-edged acidity, and Welschriesling supplies the tart, relatively neutral backbone that keeps the region's sweet wines fresh and does the same job here. The fruit comes from the warm sandy and gravelly soils around the shallow lakes east of the Neusiedlersee. The wine is a recent addition to the Kracher range and is handled without conspicuous oak so the blend's aromatics stay in the foreground.
Dry, aromatic and medium-bodied, it suits charcuterie, roast pork, chicken and lightly spiced dishes; serve at around 10 degrees.
