La Vieille Ferme Sparkling Blanc NV

La Vieille Ferme Sparkling Blanc is a dry French sparkling wine from the Perrin family of the southern Rhône.

The Perrin family are best known for Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and La Vieille Ferme is their long-running range of approachable everyday wines, sold in more countries than almost any other French label of its kind. This one is built on Chardonnay and Ugni Blanc, the latter planted more widely in France than nearly any other white variety and long valued as a base wine because it holds its acidity even in warm conditions. France makes a great deal of sparkling wine outside Champagne, and this belongs to that broad tradition of mousseux made for the table rather than for ceremony. Being non-vintage, it is blended for consistency from one year to the next. The name means, simply, the old farm, which sets the tone for everything in the range.

Serve very cold as an aperitif, or with fried food, oysters and light starters.
