Louis Billard Gevrey-Chambertin 2023

Louis Billard Gevrey-Chambertin is a red Burgundy from one of the Côte de Nuits' most celebrated villages, made by a young grower quickly establishing himself among Burgundy's rising talents.

Louis Billard is the fifth generation of a Burgundian winemaking family, whose forebears established Domaine Billard Père et Fils in 1930. After training extensively in the region, including two years at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, he launched his own independent label in 2022, based in La Rochepot in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune and sourcing fruit from sites across both the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. His winemaking favours cold pre-fermentation maceration, indigenous-yeast fermentation and ageing in barrels of around thirty percent new oak, with minimal sulfur additions to preserve a pure, terroir-driven style.

A refined, food-friendly red Burgundy, it suits the everyday table as much as considered cellaring.
