Description
Marc Brédif Vouvray Grande Année Museum Release is a remarkable mature Chenin Blanc from Vouvray in France’s Loire Valley. The Grande Année designation is reserved for special releases intended to demonstrate the extraordinary longevity for which both Vouvray and Marc Brédif have become famous. The domaine was established in 1893 and has built its reputation around Chenin Blanc capable of evolving for decades while retaining remarkable freshness and energy.
What makes this release particularly special is its age. The 1983 vintage has now spent more than four decades developing, yet is noted for drinking with astonishing youthfulness for a white wine of this age. Chenin Blanc’s naturally high acidity is fundamental to this longevity, allowing the wine to mature slowly while maintaining its structure. As a Museum Release, it also carries the added significance of long-term maturation and provenance associated with the producer rather than simply being an old bottle sourced from a private cellar.
Serve at around 11 to 13 degrees and give it time to develop gently in the glass rather than aggressively decanting. Enjoy it on its own as the centrepiece of an occasion, or with foie gras, roast poultry, aged Comté or richer dishes that can match the depth of mature Vouvray.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
