Description

Massolino Barolo in magnum is the estate's classic Serralunga d'Alba bottling, first produced in 1911 and drawn from seven prime sites around the town.

Serralunga d'Alba occupies the eastern ridge of the Barolo zone, where compact, limestone-rich Lequio marls produce the most structured and slowest-maturing Nebbiolo in the appellation. Massolino selects this wine from roughly seven hectares across seven sites, chief among them Briccolina, Collareto, Broglio and Le Turne, with Le Turne bordering Margheria and Collareto sitting beside Vigna Rionda. Some declassified fruit from the estate's Parussi cru is also included. Vine age ranges from 10 to 55 years. This was the second year the Barolo wines were fermented in large wooden tini instead of concrete, though half of this cuvée was still fermented in concrete. The wine spent about 20 days on skins, and the final blend matured 30 months in large Slavonian oak casks. Sealed under Diam.

The magnum will develop slowly and reward ten years or more; serve at 16-18C with braised beef, game or aged hard cheese.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
