Massolino Moscato d'Asti 375ml 2022

Massolino Moscato d'Asti is a lightly sparkling, low-alcohol sweet white made in small quantity by a house better known for Barolo.

Moscato d'Asti comes from the hills between Asti and Alba, where Moscato Bianco is picked early and fermented at low temperature in sealed tank, the ferment stopped while sugar and a gentle spritz remain; the wines sit at around 5% alcohol. Massolino is based in Serralunga d'Alba and a good portion of the vines behind this bottling are rooted in the prime calcareous soils there, which is unusual for the style and gives a more savoury, more structured wine than the norm. The grapes are hand-harvested and the wine is made in limited quantity. The result keeps the variety's meadow freshness and floral perfume but adds chalky texture and drive.

Drink young, within a year or two of release. Serve well chilled at 8-10°C with fresh peaches, hazelnut cake or an aperitivo before lunch.
