Description
Moccagatta Barbaresco 'Bric Balin' is a single-vineyard Nebbiolo from one of the estate's key holdings in the Barbaresco appellation.
Moccagatta is a family-run winery with vineyards in both Barbaresco and neighbouring Neive, in the Langhe hills of Piedmont. The estate farms several named crus, including Bric Balin, on the clay-rich slopes that define the appellation's character, and has built a reputation for wines with a slightly richer, more polished edge than some of the zone's strictly traditionalist producers, while still expressing Nebbiolo's structure and perfume. Barbaresco itself sits just downstream of Barolo along the Tanaro river, generally producing wines with a touch more finesse and earlier approachability than its more powerful neighbour.
This is a refined, structured red suited to roast meats, mushroom or truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses, showing the elegance that has made Barbaresco a benchmark for fine Nebbiolo.
