Description
Nicole Lamarche Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits comes from a 1.5-hectare estate parcel planted in 1979 in the hamlet of Concœur, above Vosne-Romanée.
The Hautes Côtes de Nuits lies in the hills behind the main run of the Côte, higher, cooler and later-ripening than the famous villages below, which in warm seasons has become an advantage rather than a handicap. Nicole Lamarche took over the family domaine at Vosne-Romanée in 2013 and farms this due east-facing parcel on limestone-rich soils. The wine is made in the same way as the rest of the range but with a lighter touch in the cellar, seeing only a little oak so that the racy, red-fruited character of the site comes through unobstructed. Wines of this kind are the entry point to a domaine whose holdings run to La Grande Rue, and they carry a good deal of the house style.
Drink it over the next four or five years with charcuterie, roast chicken or mushroom dishes. Serve at 16 to 18°C.
