Description
Nicole Lamarche Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot is co-fermented from two parcels, one at the top of the clos and one down near the main road.
Clos de Vougeot is the largest Grand Cru in the Côte de Nuits, a fifty-hectare walled vineyard with more than eighty owners and a wide spread of soils from the château at the top to the flatter ground beside the RN74, so the grower matters enormously. Lamarche holds two lieux-dits within it: Montiotes Hautes, high in the clos near the château, and Baudes Basse, lower down the slope. The vines are between forty and fifty years old, and the two parcels are picked together and co-fermented in an open-top wooden vat. As with the rest of her range, the handling is gentle, and the result is a finer, prettier Clos de Vougeot than the appellation usually gives, very Vosne in style, with black cherry and cassis fruit and mineral tannins.
Structured and worth ten years or more in the cellar. Serve at 16-18°C with roast beef, venison or a mature hard cheese.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
